Co-Executive Directors
 
Anna Cederstav - Anna Cederstav is one of AIDA’s Co-Executive Directors.  Having worked for AIDA since 1997, she is responsible for program and organizational development.  Anna has significant expertise in the environmental impacts of mining and other extractive activities, as well as marine resource management.  She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. from Yale University.  Anna is based in Oakland, where she is also Staff Scientist with the International Program of Earthjustice.
 
Astrid Puentes - Astrid Puentes is AIDA’s other Co-Executive Director.  She is responsible for AIDA’s legal efforts and organizational management.  Originally from Colombia, Astrid has worked from AIDA’s office at CEMDA in Mexico City since 2003.  She has significant experience with public interest litigation, especially in the field of human rights and the environment.  Astrid holds an LL.M. in Comparative Law from the University of Florida, a Masters in Environmental Law from the University of the Basque Country, and a J.D. from the University of Los Andes, Colombia.

Joelson Cavalcante - Joelson Cavalcante is a Brazilian lawyer who recently joined AIDA as a Human Rights and Environment Fellow. He is a Brazilian attorney majored in Fine Arts Literature from Universidade Federal do Amazonas – UFAM, and received his Law degree from the Universidade do Estado do Amazonas – UEA, where he is in a Master in Environmental Law in progress. He also studied Environmental Law in Pontifícia Universidad Católica del Perú – PUCP, and Universidad de Costa Rica/University of Florida. He has experience in the Environmental Law Clinic.

 

 
Dena DeBry - Dena DeBry is a fine artist and web developer.  She runs "Buttonwillow Six," a web development company.  Before striking out on her own, Dena worked in the Art Library at Stanford University.  Dena holds an M.F.A. in Printmaking from Pratt Institute and a B.A. in Fine Arts and Philosophy from UC Santa Cruz.

 

 
Héctor Herrera Santoyo - Héctor holds a law degree from the Universidad de los Andes where he also studied anthropology and was part of the program Global Justice and Human Rights. He is currently working with AIDA as coordinator of the Network for Environmental Justice in Colombia.

 
Natalia Jiménez Galindo - Natalia Jiménez Galindo is an attorney for AIDA in Bogotá, Colombia. She is helping implement legal strategies to protect sensitive ecosystems, key fresh water sources, and biological diversity in Colombia and Ecuador from threats posed by human activities such as mining.  Natalia is also helping strengthen local capacity for effective use of environmental regulations. Natalia holds a law degree from the Universidad de los Andes where she also studied International Development and Relations.
 
Erika A. Jones-Clary  - Erika A. Jones-Clary works with AIDA as an email newsletter designer and web development consultant.  She is the owner and principal of MsJones Design, an award-winning web design and development firm that serves a variety of international nonprofit and public affairs clients. Based out of Guerneville in Northern California, she has a passion for environmental and progressive political action.
 
Rob Jordan -  Rob Jordan is an award-winning journalist and author based in Washington, D.C. As a reporter and editor, he has covered a world of issues from the AIDS crisis in Africa to developing markets in Thailand.  As a researcher and copywriter, he has developed persuasive and informative campaigns for various corporations and nonprofit groups. Rob works with AIDA as author of our news bulletin and webpage, and as a communications consultant.

Jacob Kopas - Jacob Kopas is a North American lawyer working with AIDA in Colombia. Focusing on AIDA’s Human Rights and the Environment initiative, Jacob is helping litigate cases and produce legal resources related to large-scale hydroelectric and mining projects. Jacob received his law degree from Harvard University and holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Michigan. Prior to working with AIDA in Colombia, Jacob worked in Guatemala, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru and Chile, mostly with indigenous, Afro-descendent, and rural communities on issues related to human rights, sustainable development and social justice.
 
Gladys Martínez - Gladys Martínez is a Costa Rican attorney based in San Jose, Costa Rica.  She works on AIDA projects related to marine biodiversity and freshwater protection, and has helped bring AIDA victories protecting endangered turtles and coastal areas through litigation and the development of environmentally sustainable policies. Gladys received her law degree from the Universidad de Costa Rica, and holds a Masters degree in Environment, Security and Peace from the United Nations University-UPEACE.
 
Sandra Moguel - Sandra Moguel is a Mexican attorney who studied environmental law at the University of Aukland. She has worked on marine conservation issues at civil society organizations and at the High Court of New Zealand on environmental cases. She practices yoga, and enjoys hiking and swimming.
